The top two ensembles of Seattle Girls’ Choir will perform advent Lessons and Carols at Holy Rosary Church in West Seattle (4210 SW Genesee St., 98116 http://www.holyrosaryseattle.org). An elegant prelude to Christmas, this wonderful English tradition combines lessons read and carols sung by the young women of the choir.
Prime Voci, made up of high school women from throughout the Puget Sound region and conducted by Artistic Director Jacob Winkler, recently recorded a new CD of holiday music at Holy Rosary entitled Carmina Angelorum: Songs for Treble and Harp. They will be joined by Cantamus, an ensemble of middle school girls conducted by Assistant Artistic Director, Alex Gagiu. Three performers of Cantamus live in West Seattle: 8th grader Elizabeth Baer attends Hamilton Middle School, 8th grader Emma Strevey attends Pathfinder K-8, and Our Lady of Guadalupe 8th grader Gena Hurlocker.

March 15 and 16–30th Anniversary Party and Workshop – Celebrating our Alumnae and 30 Years of SGC!
In celebration of SGC’s 30th anniversary, we are excited to announce a wonderful spring weekend of SGC and alumnae music making and togetherness!
The weekend will have two main events:
On Friday evening, March 15, we will have a Cabaret Night at the ACT Theater’s Bullitt Cabaret! The evening will include performances from accomplished SGC alumnae performers – games of chance – food and drink – and a cash bar! The whole SCG community is invited (under 21 welcome). Alumnae – track down your choir friends and spread the word! We would love to see a grand alumnae gathering – bring family, friends and dates – it will be a great party! Would you like to volunteer? Contact us at info @ seattlegirlschoir. org
On Saturday, March 16, we are planning a workshop and afternoon concert with all SGC choirs and faculty, and alumnae under the direction of Dr. Wright. An opportunity to make sweet music together to welcome the spring!

Join the Seattle Girls’ Choir’s premier ensemble Prime Voci (under the direction of Jacob Winkler) and harpist Juliet Stratton for a concert of music for harp and treble voices. We begin with Benjamin Britten’s landmark A Ceremony of Carols, a haunting setting of 15th and 16th century Middle English texts. Other highlights include John Rutter’s beautiful Dancing Day, a setting of traditional English carols, and Kirke Mechem’s Seven Joys of Christmas, a fun and lively rendition of carols from around the globe.
The delicate and intricate textures of the harp are a perfect complement to the angelic voices of the girls of Prime Voci. We hope you join us for an evening of exceptionally beautiful music to celebrate the holidays with Carmina Angelorum (songs of angels).
These concerts coincide with the release of our fifth commercial recording, Carmina Angelorum: Songs for Harp and Treble Voices available for purchase HERE.
